If you agree that this sycamore is the most beautiful, vote!

"It's up to us to vote for the Tree of the Year title for the tree that gives us shade in the summer, delights us in every season and has lived with us in the Downtown for many years"

- writes Péter Szentgyörgyvölgyi, the mayor of the 5th district, in his Facebook post, inviting everyone to vote for the Tree of the Year competition.

The sycamore tree in question is located in Olimpia Park, a popular square in Belváros-Lipótváros. A special feature of the tree is that it has a branching trunk near the ground level.

As a result of the competition for light, the trunks grew more or less obliquely and twisted.

In 2013, Belváros Self-Government renovated Olimpia Park. During the works, in November 2013, the condition of the tree, which was in poor condition at the time, was assessed and a treatment proposal was compiled and then treated, as a result of which the tree has been in excellent health ever since.

Many people visit the park, many admire the spaciousness of the tree, its shade provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to spend time, talk, have a picnic, and generations of small children have been able to play under its crown over the past years.
