It seems that they didn't even want to bother with the maintenance in order to tear it down as soon as possible and then sell the properties for good money.

In several districts of Budapest, children's camping has changed adversely due to the fact that the left-wing board did not maintain the complexes: they did not care about the preservation of the structure, nor did they carry out the warranty repairs - Metropol pointed out in its article.

The portal details that the children of Józsefváros, for example, cannot use half of the Balaton beach section reserved for them and the previously completely renovated camp due to Mayor András Pikó's actions.

The left-wing city administration should have completed the renovation of the complex by 2020, since the previous pro-government city administration left money for it.

According to Fidesz MP Demeter Szilágyi, the answer to the question of why the Pikos did not finish the renovation of the camp is simple:

"Because András Pikó had no intention of doing this. Their goal was to let it rot like this and then sell it at a good price".

In Óbuda, parents started protesting because Mayor László Kiss allowed the district's iconic camp on Laborc Street to fall into disrepair. It is known that the indignant letters, which reported on amazing conditions, reached each other in the past.

Until 2019, all children from Óbuda could participate in the camp organized in the beautiful, wooded location of Barátság Park maintained by the municipality, completely free of charge. During the pandemic, the mayor who "switched" from MSZP to DK did not deal with maintenance and conservation, which resulted in the children staying in the camp in poor conditions in the summer of 2021. Then there were indignant letters reporting amazing conditions. Pictures appeared in several places that showed how the children were "fenced" on the concrete square in 40-degree heat.

They were forbidden to go among the shade trees citing the danger of accidents. As previously reported by Metropol, the children could not use the pool because there was no water in it. The little ones sat on the concrete track, they were not allowed among the trees due to neglect.

A year later, Óbuda-Békásmegyer notified the population on its website that one of the usual locations for the summer day camp would not be Laborc Street, but the Zápor Street School. László Kiss closed the camp citing the danger of accidents. All this shocked the residents of the district, and they protested. More than 500 people have signed the petition so far.

"Unfortunately, the situation has not changed this year either. The camp will only function as a location for paid camps, the »child care« in Zápor Street, on the concrete, will remain for those in need. If there is no public protest, they can easily sell the very valuable area! All Óbuda residents should remember that there are serious traditions of public pressure, which is why the Margit hospital has survived!" - writes a student from Óbuda who signed the petition against the closure.

"We invite Dr. László Kiss, so that the Laborc utca day care camp is returned to the children without delay"

"What has been working well for years, why should it be discontinued?" - writes a district member who signed the petition. According to another: "The camp was built for the children by the workers of Óbuda in the 70s and the population. For this reason, the Töttment district leadership has neither the moral basis nor the electoral authority to override the builders' intentions for any reason. With this in mind, take your hands off community-owned properties that are meant to improve the quality of life of the population, and especially refrain from transferring them to the property of your friends! This district is not their playground!” A third resident signed the petition because: "I don't want Óbuda's wealth to be squandered again, and I want the district's children to have a great summer."

Instead of the camp, this year only summer childcare will be provided at two locations and only for schoolchildren under the age of 12 - government party representative Ádám Gyepes, who took part in the action last year when the local Fidesz faction, led by Balázs Bús, bought beach tickets for the for camping children, but the municipality led by the Kisses did not accept them either. Thus, even this opportunity was lost to poor children.

The camp in Krisztina Baranyi's district, in Ferencváros, has remained, but it costs much more: it has become 90 percent more expensive, so it costs parents more than HUF 4,000 per day per child.

At the same time, children in need do not have to pay this.
