Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki interprets the fact that Manfred Weber, the leader of the European Parliament group of the European People's Party (EPP), spoke about the "defeat" of the "anti-rule of law" Polish government party as interference in the Polish parliamentary elections in the fall.

"The cup is full!" Morawiecki blurted out on X (former Twitter) on Tuesday. He stated:

as the prime minister of the government representing the majority of the democratically elected parliament, he will not allow someone to "so seriously discredit the choice of the Polish people".

The Polish prime minister recalled: Manfred Weber, as the "German leader of the EP faction" to which the main Polish opposition party, the Civic Platform (PO), belongs, on Sunday listed Law and Justice (PiS), which leads the Polish government coalition, among the "defeatable" parties.

"He called us enemies, this is not the first such statement. Enough of this!"

Morawiecki said.

By this, he was referring to Weber's statement on the German television station ZDF: all parties must accept the principle of the rule of law, and those that do not, "such as Germany's AfD, France's Le Pen (led) or PiS in Poland, are our enemies, and we will defeat it”.

Morawiecki therefore invited Weber to a televised debate on October 2.

"Are you accusing us of violating democratic rules? Let's say this in a televised debate in front of millions of Poles!"

- written by. He added: he is ready to discuss the details of such a "clash" in the coming days.

"If the Germans admit that they want to interfere in the elections in Poland, then stand up with open helmets!"

he added. He called on the EPP group leader not to use Donald Tusk's help this time.

PO is a member of the EPP in the European Parliament, the party is headed by former Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, former president of the European Council and the EPP. The president of the PO announced an opposition demonstration in Warsaw for October 1.

Already in June, Weber declared to the German daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: his faction stands for "a line that excludes radicals" and, in line with this, is "building a firewall" against PiS. "We are the only force that can replace PiS in Poland and lead the country back to Europe," he said.

At that time, the Polish government spokesman also accused the German politician of influencing the upcoming Polish parliamentary elections.
