The flames raging on the island of Maui consumed almost everything, except for the Catholic church, which was not damaged.
A huge forest fire devastated Hawaii, in which the island of Maui practically burned to the ground. However, in one of the towns on the island, miraculously, the local Catholic church was spared the flames, while most of the buildings in the settlement were destroyed, Newsweek wrote.
"It's like a miracle for us," Maui and Lanai Parish Priest Terrence Watanabe said after the incident.
"When we saw the church tower rising above the city on the news, we had a great feeling," he recalled.
