They humiliated the entire ambulance service with their rudeness: the colleagues who brutally "attacked" the ambulance and encouraged him.
Two videos show an ambulance smashing an emergency vehicle worth more than twenty million forints in the yard of an ambulance station. The vandalism was recorded on video by the station employees themselves, and several people can be heard encouraging their colleague on the recording. The recordings can be viewed here .
" We know that the incident happened at the ambulance station in Tatabánya," said the paramedic ( requests that his name be withheld ) – Among the employees of the emergency service, the recording spread like wildfire, and unfortunately, there were those who found it funny. We wouldn't have laughed at it even if it had been a movie, because we felt that such rampage was humiliating for the rescuers. I can say on behalf of many colleagues, it is shocking that one of us would dishonor the work tool with which we save lives.
– This behavior is unworthy, just like any violation of the law committed by an ambulance in connection with his service, his profession - said retired paramedic Dénes Benke. "Unfortunately, I've also met misguided colleagues, but we've never heard of someone intentionally damaging life-saving equipment." The entire ambulance service was run down by their rudeness.
Pál Győrfi, the communications manager of the rescue service, confirmed to Blikk that, unfortunately, it was not an organized filming.
– More than a month ago, a young paramedic caused additional damage to an ambulance temporarily stored in the yard of the ambulance station in its broken state, while two people were cheering him on. The unprecedented act was not only senseless and scandalous, but also complicated the procedure related to the accident and the insurance administration, so an employer investigation was immediately launched.
As a result of the disciplinary procedure, the employment of the rescuers involved in the vandalism was terminated by the service with immediate effect, they were dismissed, but they still have to compensate for the damage they caused. The windshield of the Volkswagen ambulance was clearly broken due to intentional vandalism, the price of this alone is HUF 120,000, including installation, the amount can reach HUF 150,000.
– The three paramedics, oblivious to themselves, can be happy that the ambulance service handled the case within the framework of labor-disciplinary proceedings, since intentional vandalism is a crime, and since an ambulance was smashed, it also has a moral side, it scandalizes another crime, the fact of disorderly conduct. exhausts - analyzed the case dr. László Horváth is a criminal lawyer from Budapest.
– At the same time, no report could be made because according to the law, the perpetrator of the vandalism cannot be punished or his punishment can be reduced indefinitely if he admitted to committing the vandalism and made restitution for the damage caused by it in a manner and to the extent accepted by the victim. The OMSZ probably resolved this in-house, for which the fired paramedics can thank their former employer, since this way they do not have to go to court for their stupid behavior.
