Hungary was caught in a trap. The fragmented country is being harassed by the Habsburgs from the west and the Turks from the east. The last bastion of free Hungarians was wedged between the two huge empires: Transylvania. But even in Transylvania, peace is only known from the news.

There are murderous battles for the throne, from which the impudent, young and reckless Gábor Báthory, idolized by women, emerges victorious. Behind Báthory stands his aunt, Erzsébet Báthory, known as the Bloody Countess and feared throughout Europe; as well as his thoughtful and educated teacher, Gábor Bethlen. The three nations of Transylvania, the Hungarians, the Székelys and the Saxons, hope that Báthory might finally bring peace to the little country that has suffered a lot. However, Gábor Báthory has other plans.

He does not want peace, but to regain the long-lost glory of Transylvania - at any price.

He confronts the interests of the great powers and the internal enemy that serves them, but he also has to fight his own demons. The young prince is left alone in the intoxicating triangle of power, alcohol and women when he confronts the pro-peace Gábor Bethlen. Master and student become each other's mortal enemies, calm strength and unbridled passion strain against each other. The two rivals will soon be fighting for more than just power...

The stake: the preservation of Hungarianness. The question is: what is more important, the fate of the country or the love of a woman?

"The central figure of the Fairy Garden is two XVII. century Transylvanian princes, Gábor Báthory and Gábor Bethlen. The former is the Caligula of the age, a charismatic but reckless, unscrupulous guy who constantly has to deal with conflicts and political intrigues. His counterpoint, friend and later opponent is Bethlen. In the beginning, a strange friendship binds them together. Bethlen faithfully follows Báthory and tries to help her in everything, but in return she receives unpredictability, humiliation and often finds herself in danger. He stands by the young prince until his fall, even though he is a calmer, more measured, simpler, humbler personality who disagrees with him on many points. Perhaps he lacks the fire, courage and temperament of Báthory, but when the time is right, he takes over from him and rebuilds the country in an orphaned, hopeless situation, bringing Transylvania's golden age. Bethlen's story is proof that it is always possible to alchemically transform and ennoble ourselves, our environment, and each other," Barna Bokor, who plays Gábor Bethlen, told Színház Online
