The Rákóczi Association hosts three hundred and fifty children from Ukrainian families affected by the Russian-Ukrainian war for a week. The students were able to see the Parliament in Budapest on Saturday. Grexa Liliána, an advocate of Ukrainian nationalism, greeted the children dressed in traditional Ukrainian folk costumes. He emphasized: it is a celebration for him that so many children can be seen as guests in the Hungarian Parliament. He thanked the Rákóczi Association and the Hungarian government for providing several Ukrainian children with camps in Hungary this summer.

Liliána Grexa said

all children were affected by the war, but thanks to the programs in Hungary, they were able to break away from the environment of the war country and spend a week in a peaceful country.

He added that he is confident that Ukraine will win as soon as possible and that peace will return to the country. At the event, they remembered those who gave their lives in the war for the freedom of Ukraine and the future of their children with a one-minute silence.

Csongor Csáky, the president of the Rákóczi Association, said: it is a great pleasure for him to be able to welcome the students in the Parliament after the World Athletics Championships.

The Ukrainian children who crossed the border on Saturday morning were able to come to Hungary with the help of the Hungarian Consulate General in Ungvár and the military administration there.

The 10-18-year-old students were able to gain an insight into the events of the Athletics World Cup, and after visiting the Parliament and sightseeing in Budapest, they will continue to Sátoraljaújhely, the Rákóczi camp, where they can participate in an excursion, crafts and a sports program until September 1.

Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, more than 1,180,000 refugees have entered Hungary, 600,000 of whom sought help at aid points, train stations or charitable organizations.

Last year too, more than a thousand children from Ukraine camped in Hungary. Currently, many thousands participate in the Hungarian education system.

More than three thousand children can camp at the Erzsébet camp in Zánká, and eight hundred can camp at Fonyódliget at the same time. In addition to the children who just arrived, five hundred Ukrainian and eight hundred Hungarian children from Transcarpathia were also camped in the Erzsébet camps in Balaton.
