Based on the Beneš decrees, the state still confiscates land from Hungarian citizens just because their ancestors were Hungarians living in that area. And this is not a fantasy, this is the reality of today's Slovak state - said János Méry in the interview.

"The Alliance candidate jokes about the end of Slovakia. An article about János Méry, the 103rd-ranked member of the Alliance party list, appeared on aktuality.sk with the title "He sees the Hungarian borders all the way to Poland" However, at the end of the coverage, the portal published Méry's answers in their entirety, the Hungarian translation of which is published.

Three days ago, on your Facebook profile, as a candidate of the Alliance party, you shared a picture that you want a complete revision and that Hungary's borders end with Poland. Do you want Slovakia to cease to exist, so that Hungary's borders end with Poland?

First of all, I would like to emphasize that as you can see, the content I share is a meme. Point.

revision

However, I have to start by saying that we Hungarians and Slovaks have many more things that unite us than what separates us, so I think that we should look for what unites us and our common history is also like that, because

we cannot talk about the history of the Slovaks without the history of the Kingdom of Hungary, in which the two nations lived together for more than a thousand years, which is why we Hungarians like to remember our common homeland.

But the program of the Alliance – Hungarians, Nationalities, Regions (Aliancia – Maďari, Národnosti, Regióny) party does not include the revision, of course. In today's world, this is completely unrealistic, a phantasmagoria. But why shouldn't anyone be able to talk or think about this: either voter or candidate. I think it is much more humiliating and shameful that

the Hungarians in this country are still war criminals and the fact that, based on the Beneš decrees, the state still confiscates territories from Hungarian citizens just because its predecessors were Hungarians living in this area. And this is not a phantasmagoria, it is the reality of today's Slovak state.

His post also mentions the creation of an autonomous area in the territory of the Slovak Republic, where Slovak Hungarians live. Want to transplant all of this?

First of all, I would like to ask: according to you and your readers, what exactly does autonomy mean and why can it work in South Tyrol, Catalonia or the Basque Country? My answer to your question: Territorial autonomy is not included in the program of the Alliance – Hungarians, Nationalities, Regions This means the division of the country into 12 regions, together with the fact that the people of Szepeszé and Orva have their own county, and that, of course, we also create a county along the Danube.

As the source of the image he shared on Facebook, he identified a page that spreads revisionist ideas. Among other things, they say that Slovaks are hurt by the truth that Felvidék is Hungarian, or that it displays a photo of Great Hungary with the inscription that it needs to be worked on. Do you agree with these thoughts?

Mi Magyarok is an excellent site, and yes, several posts on it deal with our common kingdom, but I personally think that we should primarily think about how Slovakia and Czechoslovakia came to be.

It must be stated that it was separated from the territory of the Kingdom of Hungary and the problematic issues must be clarified, for example, how it happened that after 1945 150 thousand Hungarians were deported first to Czechoslovakia and then to Hungary, and why they still have not apologized to these from people?

Why are we still second-class citizens of this country, why are we still war criminals, why can't we take Hungarian citizenship, why can't we use our national symbols, why have the southern regions been in such a neglected state for 30 years, why they still haven't apologized to Malina Hedvig, why they still don't know the person responsible for the aggression against the Dunaszerdahely fans, and I could continue like this.

Because we are first and foremost human beings, and only then are we representatives of individual nationalities, and that is why we must treat each other humanely. At the end, I would like to offer you a quote from the servant of God, János Esterházy, whom I consider my role model:

"We have always regarded the Slovak people as our brothers and will continue to regard them in the future. The thousand-year community of destiny was the work of God, and this community of destiny cannot be torn apart by human power."

Our editors also asked János Méry whether he had received inquiries from Slovak people because of the article published on the Slovak language portal.

Yes, several people wrote through my Facebook profile, generally aggressive messages about what I think about myself, why I want to eliminate Slovakia and similar nonsense. I drew their attention to the fact that the title was not given by me, but by the author of the article, and I started to write with them about certain facts, and I told them that they should not consider us as enemies, and that I am not their enemy either, and that the Hungarian state is the Hungary of today Hungary is not their enemy, in fact. Currently, in the ideological battles that characterize the whole of Europe in the global arena, in the push of anti-family, anti-life and anti-life propaganda, we are dependent on each other, just as the people of the Kingdom of Hungary have been dependent on each other for 1000 years since Saint Stephen.

But what did he focus on in these discussions?

I said that we must keep the V4 together at all costs, and whether we like it or not, there is currently such a danger from the West and such a danger that this liberal road roller coming from the West can destroy our Christian-based life, that God, Home , Family, so standing up for normality, staying out of the war - and I could go on - are the most important topics. And unfortunately or not, the unsettled problems of the Hungarians in the highlands with the state are currently secondary to the aforementioned problems of the region and Europe, and for any kind of change, the Hungarian party must be there in the future government, because the Slovak parties will not solve our problems by themselves. And we need to make this clear to as many people as possible.

But the most important thing now is to make the Slovaks understand: the essence of thinking about such a common state is not that today's Little Hungary, consisting almost exclusively of Hungarians, extends its borders to the territories of the old Hungary, and then "oppresses" everyone again - as as it is spread - quite the opposite.

What do you think?

The focus should be on cooperation. Anyway, I'd like to insert a thought here. I would very much like to hear a conversation with experienced historians that would reveal what the Apponyi language law contained, what it forced and what it did not force, for example, Slovakian schools, how inflated it is, and how it was almost abolished in 1907. Because that's what they always refer to.

And they constantly talk about the Hungarian state oppressing the Slovaks. And of course, between 1867 and 1907 there were (seven) steps that pointed in this direction, but this is a very small percentage of our thousand years of togetherness. So we should primarily talk about how we can cooperate and what I said in the interview, that there are many more things that connect us with the Slovaks than what separates us: we only need to think about the revolution of 1848, when tens of thousands of Slovak soldiers fought on the side of the Hungarian freedom struggle, or in the Rákóczi war of independence, when not only tens of thousands of Slovaks, but Ruthenians, Swabians, Saxons, etc. they fought II. On the side of Ferenc Rákóczi, the Hungarian homeland for independence. Well, if we understand this and the Slovaks understand this, then yes, it is possible to start an honest dialogue about, for example, how Slovakia was created, or Czechoslovakia, and what I said in the interview:

that it is not possible to talk about the history of these two countries in such a way that they deny that the 1,020 years of the Kingdom of Hungary are actually the common history of these two states.

At the beginning of the interview, he called the common state a phantasmagoria, as if he had distanced himself from it. Why?

Well, it was mainly because of the offensive questions that I drew attention to the fact that this was a meme, and I tried to take the edge off of it all so that I could give an answer that served as a harsh counterpoint to the one I gave in the first question, that currently, in this Central European situation as a member of the European Union, and due to the unclear nature of the issue, it is not so realistic now in the coming years,

on the other hand, the fact that we are war criminals, and that territories are still confiscated today due to the laws regarding war criminals from 80 years ago, is not a phantasmagoria, nor a fiction, but the practice of law, since the present-day Slovak state confirmed the validity of the Beneš decrees a few years ago , along with the passages that treat Hungarians and Germans as war criminals to this day.

I wanted to emphasize this, because this is not fiction, this is not a fairy tale, this is not a joke, this is today's reality in the highlands, and this must be discussed openly.

And also about whether it is possible to talk about how to change the borders within the territory of the European Union and as a member of the European Union. I think it is possible to talk, but a lot of water still has to flow down the Danube, and a lot of debates conducted by historians still have to be conducted until the representatives of the Hungarian communities living in the individual annexed areas can state: they want to live in a common homeland again. However, it is certain that the first step is that if this question arises, we do not run away from it, but rather answer it.

And, of course, then you have to expect that they will be carried away by everything from Slovak haters to Slovakia's enemies...

But is this really the most important question today?

No, but we are making a mistake if we want to avoid this question. Many people live relatively peacefully in their own settlements, and the county and local representatives of the Association can help them a lot in their daily lives. But there are important questions such as the development of the southern road network, the protection of the drinking water supply, issues of language use, investments in the south, or even the issues of county division, which already require national representation. So I don't think these are the most important issues either, but why can't we talk about this as well, if the other side is constantly talking about LGBTQ rights this way, gender ideology that way, same-sex marriage, etc.

I don't like that either. But I don't want to prohibit them from talking about it, so no one else wants what I want to talk about, either as a voter or as a candidate.

This question must be placed in space, time, in the electoral system, what is the reality of this, and we must enter into these debates, because that is the only way to bring the Hungarians' and Slovaks' view of history or their thinking about history closer together. And of course, it may seem that this attempt points in a negative direction, but if there are historians who want to understand a common past, then you can start a journey with these historians, looking for common points.

A couple of weeks ago, he released a molino draft that he posted as a cover image on his social media platform. On this, he proclaims equal rights and their own county for Hungarians in the highlands. What do you mean by that? Because that's why more people attacked him, right?

The party's program includes the point that I already talked about on aktuality.sk, namely that we want to form the new county system according to the natural regions, and not only we want this, but also the leading representatives of the individual Slovak-majority regions , as well as its residents. I mentioned Árva and Szepesség, didn't I? And the goal is not primarily for the county to have a Hungarian majority, but if we take the natural regions as a basis, then the majority of the population in a southern county will be of Hungarian nationality. But anyway, why shouldn't we state that we want a county with a Hungarian majority, because we state this as a Hungarian national community living in the highlands, where we are a minority part of the nation compared to the majority nation. So why shouldn't we, in a subordinate role, formulate this, if in the 2000s - unfortunately with the assistance of Bugár's MKP at the time - the majority

the Slovak nation formed the counties in such a way that it did not argue in favor of something, but against the Hungarian national community, since the essence of it was to prevent the creation of county structures where there is a chance that, in the event of a unified Hungarian party, the Hungarian leadership will be for the given county.

So this slogan is about nothing more than being equal citizens of this country - because we really aren't - and about having one or two (or three or more) counties in the southern regions, which are so naturally in regions, and they were formed on the basis of the counties existing in the thousand-year-old Hungarian state, in which the proportion of Hungarians is in the majority.
