Katolikus Karitász organized summer recreation for about four thousand children across the country this year, and almost ten thousand students will receive gift packages at the beginning of the school year, said the national director of the organization in Balatonakali, Veszprém county, on Wednesday.

Gábor Écsy said that the camp of almost four thousand young people was organized in the sixteen dioceses, and about six hundred people were able to participate in their camp in Balatonakali.

Among the young people were Hungarians from Southern Region and Transcarpathia, as well as 135 Ukrainian children from the inner Ukraine.

The national director of Caritas also reported that with their campaign to support the start of school, which started at the beginning of August, they intend to help ten thousand children enroll in school in about 800 settlements of the 16 dioceses.

Let the start of school be a joy! program lasts until the middle of September, and you can also support the start of school for those in need by calling 1356 and donating online

- emphasized Gábor Écsy.

Anita Herczegh, the Good Service Ambassador of Catholic Charities, called it important that all children can be filled with experiences in the summer, forget the trials of everyday life, and start the new school year with new strength.

As he said, this is especially true for the young people who came from Ukraine, who, along with their Hungarian peers, also received gifts from the beginning of the school year.

Ukrainian nationality advocate Liliána Grexa thanked the government for explicitly supporting Ukrainian refugees and Ukraine since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war. He praised the Catholic Caritás, which also gave Ukrainian children the opportunity to camp at Lake Balaton.
