The Soros, who were withdrawing from the EU with Greek fire, have now ripped a nice slice out of the Polish media, just a few weeks before the elections. What a coincidence!

A company linked to György Soros has acquired majority ownership in two leading Polish newspapers, just a few weeks before the Polish elections, Magyar Nemzet with reference to Express.at .

The Amsterdam-based company Pluralis became the majority owner of the Rzeczpospolita daily and the financial daily Parkiet after Grzegorz Hajdarowicz sold most of his shares in the media group Gremi Media to Pluralis, which

one of its shareholders is the Soros Economic Development Fund.

Pluralis owns 57 percent of Gremi Media's shares. Details of the transaction were not disclosed. According to the newspaper, there was talk earlier that the Polish oil and gas industry giant Orlen would buy the media belonging to Gremi Media, but Hajdarowicz decided to sell the shares to foreign investors.

Regarding the timing, i.e. why the Soros bought themselves into the Polish media a few weeks before the Polish elections, János Zila, an analyst at the Center for Fundamental Rights, said that this does not fit into the narrative that billionaire-related companies, NGOs and foundations are reducing European their activities. "On the one hand, the departure is not complete, and on the other hand, the announcement itself says that it is

The activities carried out by the Open Society Foundations until now will be carried out by other actors"

said the analyst.

Incidentally, the Sejm voted in 2021 on a bill that would have limited the acquisition of property by non-EU companies in the Polish media market, but this was vetoed by Polish President Andrzej Duda himself, yielding to protests from the United States and the European Union, so it did not come into force.
