Hungary took third place in the ranking comparing countries in the report examining the employment opportunities of qualified young people, prepared by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), announced the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM).

In their press release, they wrote that the OECD Education Snapshot 2023 (Education at a Glance) report published on Tuesday acknowledges the results of the Hungarian vocational training system. The purpose of the material published annually is to present the performance of education systems in a global context with fresh, reliable and comparable data and their explanations.

"One of the most important findings of this year's material is that in Hungary, young people aged 25-34 with professional qualifications are employed in an exceptionally high proportion. Hungary ranks third after Norway and Iceland. This data is in line with both the European Union and the OECD significantly higher than average"

they announced.

Regarding Hungary, the OECD also states that those with a degree obtained in the vocational training system - which represents 38 percent of the 24-34-year-olds - are less exposed to the risk of unemployment than those with a general secondary education, and can also expect a 31 percent higher salary.

The ministry recalled in a statement that a week ago, the Hungarian team achieved its best result so far at the European Championship of Professions in Gdansk, Poland, where, in addition to the title of Best of Europe, the young people brought home five gold, one silver, four bronze medals and seven excellence medals. . Among the thirty-two participating countries, Hungary finished second in the overall medal table.

The government renewed the entire vocational training system in 2020, according to the results, young Hungarians finish better and better in international competitions, their academic results and employment chances improve, and experience also shows that instructors, students and their parents have become open-minded to the changes introduced with the new system.

The number of applicants for vocational training has been increasing for years, the most popular type of school after finishing primary school is the technical school, reads the KIM announcement.
