Balázs-Piri Soma, together with young people from 70 countries, was the only Hungarian to enter the prestigious institution this year.

Balázs-Piri, a former winner of the Viruóz, continues his studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, a pianist with the Soma Junior Prima award. Balázs-Piri Soma, together with young people from 70 countries, was the only Hungarian to enter the prestigious institution this year. After the successful admission, he also successfully applied for the Stipendium Peregrinum scholarship, which is open to the best Hungarian students who have been admitted to the world's most prestigious universities and who undertake to use their acquired knowledge in Hungary after their studies.

Balázs-Piri Soma, now 19 years old, won the Virtuózok classical music talent show 5 years ago.

He has performed in many concert halls from London to New York, and has performed with Plácido Domingo, with whom he also recorded a joint album. 

Hungarian audiences can next hear Balázs-Piri Soma on Saturday, September 23 at the Szeged Cathedral, where he will play Mozart's Piano Concerto in D minor, accompanied by the Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra and conducted by Yoon Kuk Lee, as part of the Szent Gellert Festival.
