The former host of Fox News wanted to conduct an interview with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, but this intention was blocked by Washington.

Tucker Carlson gave an interview to the Swiss newspaper Weltwoche. The interviewing journalist cited a Gallup survey and stated that half of the American population believes that the news media is deliberately trying to mislead and misinform them.

"I would argue that the news media in democracies is much less reliable than in other countries, simply because it matters more in a democracy, because people vote based on the information they have," Carlson said.

He added that for several decades, the people who run the United States have been very aggressive in trying to control what appears in the media. And they succeeded, he stated.

According to Tucker Carlson, American journalists are afraid to say something that offends the government or the people who run the biggest companies.

"And they exist precisely to hold those in power accountable. Instead, they do the exact opposite. They carry out their orders," emphasizes the former host of Fox News.

He said about the war in Ukraine that it is a potential nuclear conflict between the superpowers. "Shouldn't we know everything about it?" Carlson asks.

I tried to interview Vladimir Putin, but the American government prevented me from doing so”

- underlined the American media personality. He added somewhat disappointed that no one had protected him.

“I don't think anyone in the news media said, 'Wait a minute. I may not like this guy, but he has the right to interview whoever he wants, and we also have the right to listen to what Putin has to say." Putin's voice should not be heard. Why is that?" Carlson asks confused.

“I am an American citizen. I'm a much more loyal American than, say, Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, who didn't even grow up in this country. And they tell me what it means to be a loyal American? When David Frum [of The Atlantic magazine] from Canada tells me I'm not a loyal American, it's a joke," Carlson said.
