The government pays a pension supplement, in November the postman brings almost half a month's pension more to the elderly, the Prime Minister announced on Thursday.
In a video uploaded to his Facebook page, Viktor Orbán greeted Hungarian pensioners on the occasion of Sunday's International Day of the Elderly and made an announcement that is of great help to our elderly fellow citizens.
He recalled that back in 2010, they agreed with the pensioners that the national government would preserve the value of the pensions, and gave a guarantee that what happened in the Gyurcsány era, when one month's pension was taken away from the pensioners, would not happen again.
"Therefore, we preserved the value of the pensions every year, if the country's chariot went well, we were even able to pay a pension premium," he said.
He added: they can fulfill this commitment even during the coronavirus epidemic and now the war in Ukraine.
He said they want a country where "we cry together, we laugh together". The prime minister said that this year inflation was higher than expected, so the only way to preserve the value of pensions is to pay pension supplements.
"Therefore, in November, the postman will receive almost half a month's pension more on average," the Prime Minister explained the government's decision on Wednesday.
"Exact settlement, long friendship, pensioners can count on us," he said.
