No denying it, Travis Ginger didn't do much when he set out to grow the world's largest pumpkin in the garden of his home in Minnesota.
It was time to set about breaking the world record, because until now an Italian pumpkin, Stefano Cutrupi, had usurped the first place with his giant vegetable weighing 2702 English pounds. This has now been fixed for £47 by the burly horticultural engineer, who named his huge pumpkin after Michael Jordan. With this, he wanted to pay tribute to the greatest basketball player of all time, whose jersey number was 23, and in this way rhymed with 2023, the year of the great pumpkin.
Over the years, our gardener has spent more than five million forints on the education of his protégé, and we can only hope that he did not use various prohibited doping agents.
"Jordan" had to be transported from Minnesota to California to prove that there is no bigger pumpkin than him in the world at the 50th championship. Its owner, who received 30,000 dollars - or more than HUF 10 million - for the first place pumpkin, said: he will use his prize to grow even bigger pumpkins. Only on it! It will be great.
