"It's as if the moral compass towards Israel is completely confused, in the Western world this compass is completely collapsing," Slomó Köves began the conversation in the latest broadcast of Mandiner Reaction.
He explained: the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, which in principle represents human rights, for example, quite openly supports the terrorist party Hamas on social media. The leading rabbi considers that one of the main problems is that the dividing lines have become blurred in the Western postmodern environment, and
in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, terrorists have become heroes.
It is worrying that Western countries are behaving as they did in relation to Nazi Germany at the time, they believed that Adolf Hitler's plan to exterminate an entire people was not serious, practically the same thing is happening now, only it is the terror of Hamas.
"The world turned on itself about one hundred and fifty years ago"
- explained Slomó Köves, adding that various "isms" appeared, the Second World War was a total failure of modernity, the main victim of which was Judaism.
According to him, many people now think that the Jews were victims eighty years ago, now they are the oppressors of the Palestinians, they maintain an apartheid state. However, this is not true, and several polls have already shown that the vast majority of Arabs living in Israel want to live in the country, as it is indisputable that there is freedom of religion and opinion, as in Western countries, but not in the countries surrounding Israel.
He also touched on the fact that despite the Israeli army asking the people of Gaza to move south, Hamas does not allow it and uses the civilians as human shields.
According to calculations, 600 million euros go to the Palestinians every year from European taxpayers' money
said the chief rabbi of the EMIH, noting that most of this amount goes to the Palestinian Authority, which pays annuities to the families of all terrorists.
The rabbi observes on social media that, unfortunately, those anti-Semitic voices who stand up for the Palestinians and Hamas have also appeared in Hungary, but the situation in Western Europe is downright critical from the point of view of the Jewish communities, and there have been many anti-Semitic attacks in the recent period. According to him, we are at the point where religious Jews in Western countries must develop a survival strategy. He also talked about the situation of Jews in Hungary:
God bless the Hungarian government for deciding in 2015 not to claim a larger Muslim community!"
He added that if there were tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of Muslims here, there would surely be a group of them who would be fundamentalist Islamists. Slomó Köves also visited the United States, and has been positively supporting Israel and the Jewish community since the democratic administration. However, since Joe Biden's presidency, he has experienced weakness and a hypocritical attitude, which was well symbolized by the withdrawal from Afghanistan. He explained that it is a matter of fact
Donald Trump was the only president in the last forty years who did not have a world-famous conflict during his four-year presidency".
In connection with this, he added that Trump's street fighter behavior - despite all his problems with speaking - made American diplomacy work. According to Slomó Köves, what happened in Israel was "a paradigm shift like 9/11", reminiscent of a medieval pogrom, and he hopes that the Jewish state will not leave these atrocities without consequences, because then it would lose its credibility in society.
