Hungary opposes terrorism, therefore it does not support migration either, because whoever supports migration also supports terrorism, the Hungarian Prime Minister stated on Thursday in Brussels.

Arriving at the two-day EU summit, Viktor Orbán expressed his hope that they will also see in Brussels: there is an obvious connection between terrorist acts and migration.

He said that the EU wants to collect more money from the member states so that it can be given to the migration-related reception policy and to the Ukrainians.

He stated: Hungary's position is clear: it does not want to give money to migrants, and it does not want to give money to Ukraine either, at most based on a very thorough proposal. However, serious professional and political arguments are lacking behind the current proposals.

"Giving more money will not work, we will reject this," he underlined.

In response to a question about the war in Ukraine, the Prime Minister stated that Hungary has a peace plan and intends to keep all communication channels open with Russia in the hope of its acceptance. He stated: Hungary is the only country that stands for peace, which is in the interest of all Europeans.

"Hungary has a transparent and very clear peace strategy and wants to do everything to achieve peace. Therefore, all possible channels of communication with the Russians must be kept open, otherwise there is no chance for peace," said the Prime Minister.

Regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, he said: Hungary stands by Israel's right to defend itself and to ensure that a terrorist attack similar to the one committed on October 7 by the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas against the State of Israel never happens again.

He also stated: it is necessary to ensure humanitarian assistance.

According to the Hungarian and European point of view, two countries, Israel and Egypt, are located in the Mediterranean region, and if either of them becomes unstable, waves of migration can immediately start from the region towards Europe.

In order to avoid this, these countries must be stabilized, because the stability of the region is in the interest of the Europeans, underlined the minister.

In response to a question, the Prime Minister expressed his hope that the leaders of the member states would grant Georgia candidate status in the final declaration planned to be adopted at the summit.
