As he said, he does not yet know whether he will run in the next term, and as a result, neither candidate, Andrea Hegedűs or Pál Veres, shows any commitment. "I previously announced to the DK that if the subject of the political negotiations is my mandate, then I will step back, but we are not there yet," he said, and indicated that

he does not shy away from further political involvement if someone convinces him of the "correct direction".

He also explained that he did not join the board as a "party soldier" of the DK, but even before the 2019 municipal elections, he accepted the agreement that if he won the mandate, he would join the faction group of the DK. The politician explained in connection with the events of October 23 that he himself laid wreaths in countless cases in the city, for example on behalf of the Velünk a Város faction, often alone. According to him, if someone from DK had wanted him to be there at the commemoration, they would have told him. Borkuti also added that he does not understand why DK did not appear in several places on the memorial sites of the county seat.

The local politician also commented: he does not consider it lucky that two mayoral candidates are competing against the Fidesz-KDNP candidate, who has not yet been named. "Now both sides have started to brush their truth," László Borkuti pointed out.
