The purpose of the introduction of border controls is to prevent illegal migration from the Balkan route, pointed out the Deputy Minister of the Interior of the Polish government.

Maciej Wasik made a statement about the temporary controls on the Slovak border that have been in effect since October 4, reports the Polish newspaper Wpolityce.

The border can be crossed at eight road and three railway and eleven pedestrian crossings, but crossing is not allowed, for example, on the Tatra mountain trails.

Croatia and Hungary are the countries under direct attack, stated the Deputy Minister of the Interior.

"The purpose of introducing border controls is to prevent illegal migration from the Balkan route. These measures are effective and remind Slovaks that they too must protect their borders, especially with Hungary," he added.
