The Hungarian Football Association (MLSZ) has submitted its official application material to the European Union (UEFA) to host the 2026 or 2027 Champions League Final.

Jenő Sipos, the spokesperson of the MLSZ, highlighted to the current channel M1 on Tuesday: the next two finals that could be bid for were the ones in 2026 and 2027, for which a declaration of intent from Hungary and Italy had previously been sent to UEFA. By the deadline of November 15, both applicant countries have submitted the official application materials, which will be evaluated by the European association in February, and comments and proposals will also be made by then. UEFA will announce the director of the two BL finals next May.

"As Sándor Csányi previously stated, one of the most important goals of the MLSZ was to bring prestigious international football matches to Hungary and for Hungarian fans to see star players and prestigious matches up close. We have already organized the Women's Champions League Final, the Europa League Final, the Super Cup Final, and we also hosted a few matches of the European Championship, and we received excellent reviews from UEFA, the participating teams, and the Puskás Aréna regarding the organization. from the fans who come here," said Jenő Sipos, who emphasized that the Puskás Arena is also a great facility from the point of view that it is located in the middle of the city, so it is easily accessible by public transport.

"That's why the MLSZ thought that, in addition to the previous big events, it's time to organize a BL final, the two earliest possible dates for this were the 2026 and 2027 seasons," said the spokesperson, who also revealed that the detailed application material had to address, among other things, transportation, security, accommodation for teams and fans, and the creation of fan zones.

"According to UEFA's plans, a multi-day festival is planned around the BL finals, which would be held in different parts of the capital in the case of a Budapest final," Jenő Sipos added, and emphasized that the BL final is "a much larger affair" than, for example, El-final.

"We organized the Europa League final this year to the satisfaction of the public, but in the case of the Champions League, we need more of everything. I think that our organizing committee was prepared for the task, it has proven itself in recent years, so we rightly hope that the Hungarian fans will be able to see the CL final in the Puskás Arena," said the spokesperson.

The 2024 final will be held at Wembley Stadium in London, and the 2025 final will be held at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
