Kiev did not expect such a "betrayal": Ukraine has a new enemy, and its total loss due to the Polish blockade may exceed one billion euros.

According to the announcement of the Hungarian police, due to the increased transit traffic at the border crossing in Záhony, diversions should be expected in several places.

The police divert the trucks from highway 4 at Kisvárda to road 4145, vehicles can return to the highway in stages, under police supervision, at Tiszabezdéd; trucks heading towards the Ukrainian border from the direction of the M3 motorway will be diverted off the motorway at the Őri exit and directed towards the crossing at Csengersima, thus reducing the load on the Záhony crossing and the number of trucks waiting on highway 4, Szabolcs-Szatmár announced - Bereg Vármegyei Police Headquarters on Saturday on the police.hu website.

They wrote that blockades and demonstrations lasting several days are paralyzing freight traffic at the Polish and Slovak border crossings.

Due to the Polish blockade - to which Slovakian carriers also joined and blocked the only Ukrainian-Slovak crossing that can also be used by trucks - the congestion is already felt in Hungary, as the lorries going to Ukraine try to reach their destination through Hungary.

It was pointed out that

Due to increased transit traffic at the Záhony border crossing, diversions should be expected in several places.

Kilometer long lines of trucks

Outbound transit traffic has increased tremendously at the border crossing in recent days, and trucks heading to Ukraine are waiting in lines of kilometers on Highway 4.

The police operate the border crossing at full capacity, but the waiting time is still several hours, which is mainly due to the fact that, despite Hungarian police speeding up the exit, "the receptiveness and smoothness of entry on this Ukrainian side is far from proportional," they wrote.

Because of this problem, special attention is being paid to trucks loitering on the side of the road, which make it difficult to walk on the affected road section, and drivers who often get out of their vehicles also cause a dangerous situation.

It was also reported that

the police is continuously cooperating with the Slovak authorities in order to resolve the situation,

as some of the trucks bound for Ukraine are waiting in Slovakia.

More than two thousand trucks were stranded on the Polish side and at least 800 on the Ukrainian side. Two drivers have already died in the queue. The situation is difficult and tense. However, the EU supports the strikers. Polish farmers also joined the action.

According to Bloomberg, members of the Hungarian, Polish, Slovak, Czech and Lithuanian industry group of the International Road Transport Union have written to the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in which they ask her to review the transport agreement with Kiev.

The agreement expires in June 2024. The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine has developed an evacuation procedure. To apply for state support, it is sufficient to fill out a special questionnaire. However, they have to leave the truck behind.
