"I am grateful for everything, this award is extremely touching for me. I have never looked for success, I have worked diligently all my life, I have always loved my work very much. I learned from failures, I was nourished by successes, I tried to solve unexpected situations, I defied paradigm changes, and I always tried to find new ways.
I was simply doing my job. I am very grateful to my parents, from whom I received valuable and beautiful childhood experiences despite the dictatorship at the time, and to my wonderful teachers in Budapest, I am deeply and respectfully grateful.
Looking back on the past decades, it has always been important to me that the unstoppable time should just pass and not pass without a trace. My message has always been simple: let's live in peace, freedom, love, acceptance and respect each other. Music and art have always been one of my most expressive tools, because music is the greatest connecting force that can bridge all barriers," said Leslie Mandoki at yesterday's award ceremony.
