Like the Poles and Slovaks, the Hungarian carriers are also preparing for a demonstration at the Záhony border crossing from December 11. The blockade may even last until the end of the year.

Due to the appearance of Ukrainian goods suppliers on the EU market, hundreds of Hungarian businesses were "on the edge of ruin"

- said the Secretary General of the Association of Hungarian Road Transporters.

Árvay Tivadar said: in view of the war situation, the European Union allowed Ukrainian goods suppliers to appear on the common market - basically for humanitarian deliveries.

The permit was extended until June 2024, with the result that the mileage of Ukrainian trucks on Hungarian public roads has now increased by more than 30 percent, while the mileage of Hungarian vehicles has decreased by 4 percent, MTI reported.

Ukrainian carriers come from a completely different economic and legal environment, so their costs are also different, and EU rules do not apply to them.

They work with a significant price advantage and destroy the part of the logistics sector of the member states that affects carriers

- stressed the general secretary.

The Hungarian demonstration can start from Monday

This is what the Polish and Slovak news are about, but the same thing is behind the Hungarian protests starting on Monday, said the general secretary, adding that the transporters will demonstrate at the border crossing in Záhony.

Hungarian truckers would slow down freight traffic on highway 4 to and from the Záhony-Csop border crossing.

The demonstration would last from 10 a.m. on Monday until midnight on December 31

According to the newspaper's previous article, the demonstration was announced, so the assessment is still ongoing at the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Police Headquarters.

"We asked the European Union - there was a meeting of the transport committee last week - to (...) review its agreement with Ukraine and take into account the interests of the member states of the European Union, including the transport companies of Hungary, and not let the Ukrainian carriers, having long since gone beyond their initial intentions, should appear in the European Union basically for business purposes"

- said Árvay Tivadar.
