David Pressman, who criticizes the Hungarian sovereignty law, is deeply silent about the fact that the United States also has an agent law, which very seriously sanctions those who want to pursue political activities in America with foreign money - it was revealed from the Thursday evening broadcast of the program 48 Minutes - Host: Tamás Lánczi. in which political scientist Zoltán Kiszelly, director of the Századvég Political Analysis Center, Máté Kulifai, editor of Hetek, and Levente Szikra, senior analyst of the Fundamental Rights Center, were the guests of Tamás Lánczi.

The host of the program recalled that, according to the American ambassador, the Hungarian law on the protection of sovereignty is even harsher than the Russian law on foreign agents, but David Pressman did not mention that the United States also has an agent law,

which imposes a serious obligation on all those who wish to engage in political activity in America with foreign money.

"The Americans have always wanted to exclude foreign influence, which is very correct for a sovereign country," stated Zoltán Kiszelly, referring to the 1937 American law on the registration of foreign agents, and emphasized that Russia is not a Western-type democracy like Hungary, therefore

the Russian regulation cannot be compared to the Hungarian one, since our country follows the American and Israeli examples.

Levente Szikra emphasized that the law does not introduce new prohibitions, but it also covers associations, as they can also run in municipal elections.

"Until now, it was forbidden to campaign from foreign sources, and for parties to accept foreign funding, on the other hand

there will be much stricter punishments than before"

- summed up Levente Szikra.

"I think it's hypocritical that the American ambassador is starting his training in Hungary when there is plenty to improve in the field of the rule of law back home," said Máté Kulifai, who reminded him that former President Donald Trump is also being tried to be disabled through court proceedings.

"Much more serious violations of law have been committed in the United States than Pressman assumes that the Hungarian government could potentially commit through this law," he added.

"Several billion HUF dollars were sent here from America, with which they tried to influence the outcome of the Hungarian elections. It's a fact"

- stated Tamás Lánczi, who considers the American ambassador's statements to be self-revealing, since according to Pressman, this phenomenon should not even be talked about.

According to Máté Kulifai

sovereignty should be protected with an even stricter law,

it is not enough that the amendment of the penal code closes the loophole that, for example, Péter Márki-Zay's movement was able to obtain foreign funding.

"An American tech company is able to achieve here, in Hungary, that Hungarian journalists, media organizations and a legally operating party are banned and excluded from the online public through social networking sites. This is an attempt to influence which the Hungarian government does not yet have an answer for," Kulifai pointed out, with whom László Toroczkai, representative of Mi Hazánk, and Levente Szikra, who recalled Donald Trump's ban from social media, agreed that such companies have enormous influence.

According to Levente Szikra, however

the sovereignty law is a big step forward

because of the amendments to the criminal law and the electoral procedure.

The host reminded him that

the State Audit Office imposed a HUF 260 million fine on the six opposition parties campaigning with foreign funds,

they should pay HUF 43 million each, but they are complaining about this.

"There was enough money for campaigning under Hungarian conditions, and these parties also accepted foreign money," pointed out Zoltán Kiszelly, who revived the fact that American advisers also managed the opposition's communications, which is why they had to scold Putin.

"Advisors connected to the Democratic Party also appeared in the campaign"

Zoltán Kiszelly referred to the American party.

"A party claims that they were tricked and led because

the money flowed through them without even noticing it"

Tamás Lánczi evaluated the socialist declarations about the fundraising boxes of Gergely Karácsony's movement.

Kulifai advised opposition politicians who feel cheated to support the sovereignty law for the sake of transparency.
