For now, neither the identity of the attacker nor his motivation is known.

A car crashed into one of US President Joe Biden's convoy in the US state of Delaware on Sunday.

The US president was at his party's campaign headquarters when a sedan crashed into one of the vehicle's security service cars at a nearby intersection, about 40 meters from the president's SUV.

The bodyguard responsible for the president's security immediately escorted Biden out and transported him from the city center, the American press reported.

The incident occurred after Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, left the campaign center after meeting with the president's re-election team and headed for their armored SUV waiting at the scene.

That's when the sedan collided with a US Secret Service vehicle that was involved in securing intersections near the campaign headquarters. The sedan attempted to enter a closed intersection. In response, Secret Service agents quickly surrounded the vehicle, drew guns, and ordered the driver to put his hands up.

According to a Reuters report, television footage showed Secret Service agents escorting an unharmed Biden to his car after the crash and then taking him away from the scene.
