We are full of anticipation and hope at the threshold of 2024, confident that we can approach our tasks with renewed energy, vitality and vigor - said the President of the Republic Katalin Novák in her New Year's address broadcast on the M1 and the Danube, after the National Anthem.

"We trust in talent, diligence, and grace," emphasized the President of the Republic, who invites all Hungarians, regardless of age, to run, hike, swim, bike, play soccer, and exercise in 2024.

"Let's move together, let 2024 be the year of movement!" - stressed Katalin Novák, adding: let's take an example from professional athletes and not just cheer, but also move.

In his speech, the President of the Republic recalled the memorable events of the year 2023, "when we had reason to be happy, to be proud", such as, among other things, the visit of Pope Francis to Budapest, the Nobel Prize of Katalin Karikó and Ferenc Krausz, the athletics world championship, the football team's first place in the group for the European Championship.

Katalin Novák said: it was good to experience that the president of the Hungarians was received with respect in all thirty countries where he officially visited this year.

"They know that ours is a talented nation with a strong self-awareness, a special way of thinking, and has recovered," he pointed out, adding: even if they don't always understand us, they pay attention to us. "Personally, I also work to turn this attention into understanding and cooperation," he emphasized.

The President of the Republic reminded: there is war in Ukraine and Israel, mass demonstrations, economic and political uncertainty in the world. At home, there is worry and struggle for everyday life, but we can live in peace, he emphasized.

Katalin Novák described the year 2023 as the year of meetings and thanked people for helping to walk with open eyes, ears and hearts. He thanked the doctors and nurses that Panni, who was born weighing 520 grams, and her twin sister can hope for a full life. He thanked the helpers for rescuing little Ahmet and his companions from the ruins of the earthquake in Turkey.

He expressed his gratitude to the workers of the children's home in Balassagyarmat, the workers in Tiszabő, Tiszaalpár, Sárkeresztúr, Sóshartyán, the small hussars of Fonyód, Rimóci, Téranyi, Hollókői for preserving tradition, the teachers in Kecskemét, Móri, Csurgó, Pannonhalm, the teachers in Somogyvár, Nyírbátor and Mexikói Ut. to the Lajoskomárom charity home, the Single Parent Centers and those caring for the homeless.

The President of the Republic recalled December 2003, when we awaited the new year with the knowledge that Hungary would soon become a member of the European Union. "Today we see the benefits, the difficulties, and we haven't forgotten for a moment: full membership was promised," he pointed out, adding that this week the Brussels postman also brought some of our money among the demand letters.

The President of the Republic also reminded that: the newborn, the child, the grandchild represent hope and serenity, they give meaning to earning money, building a country, teaching, we want to create a more predictable, peaceful and happy future for them.

 At the end of her speech, Katalin Novák wished all Hungarians a New Year that brings hope.
