Spar Magyarország Kereskedelmi Kft. and the Trade Union of Commercial Employees (KASZ) have agreed on wages for 2024,

The lowest basic salary for employees in department stores will be HUF 365,000 gross, and the lowest gross basic salary for cashiers and salespeople in economically important areas and in stores with outstanding performance will be HUF 435,000 gross.

Depending on the size, turnover and business performance of the stores, department stores

the basic salary of a middle manager will be between HUF 420 and HUF 950 thousand gross.

According to the agreement

the 13th monthly allowance, the loyalty program and the 15 percent shopping discount for employees will continue up to HUF 120,000 per month. Within the framework of the loyalty program, employees can continue to take advantage of the benefits of the anniversary allowance and the SZÉP card, in the case of the latter, the company has further increased the amount. Spar reimburses the cost of going to work by car by paying a fee of HUF 40 per kilometer.

The company will also implement the wage improvement this year exclusively using its own funds. According to their information, between 2017 and 2023, HUF 57.3 billion worth of wage improvements were implemented from their own resources, and HUF 17 billion will be allocated for this purpose in 2024.

Spar Hungary achieved a gross sales revenue of HUF 915.7 billion in 2022, 15.6 percent more than the previous year, and the number of its employees is approximately 14,000.

Aldi will raise wages by 12 percent from January

The employees of Aldi Magyarország Élélmiszer Bt. in the field of sales and logistics, as well as in office positions

they will receive a uniform 12 percent wage increase from January 1

In the announcement, it was highlighted that this is the fourth wage increase in 24 months, the total value of which is at least 38 percent, and in some positions even higher.

The January wage increase applies to the company group's approximately 6,000 employees nationwide, uniformly in almost all positions.

After the increase, the starting wage of manual store workers who have just entered the store will rise to HUF 482,400 gross per month with an 8-hour employment relationship, while it will be HUF 500,900 gross after working at Aldi for at least 12 months. The highest available salary in this position is HUF 668,400 gross.

The salary of manual workers working in the logistics area of ​​the Biatorbágy central warehouse starts at HUF 534,300 gross, and the highest allowance available to them is HUF 643,600 gross.

From January

the salary of store managers will be between HUF 906,500 and HUF 1,399,800 gross, depending on the length of service at Aldi.

The wage increase also applies to all employees of Aldi International IT Services Kft., which provides IT services, so the workers in the service centers in Budapest, Pécs and Debrecen will receive an average wage increase of 12 percent in most positions.

Even in entry-level positions, newly joined employees can expect a gross salary of HUF 600,000.

Aldi indicated that both the wage increase and classification into a higher wage category are automatic for the company's employees. In the case of all employees, the length of service spent at the company determines which wage band they will be in, and wage increases are without individual wage negotiations.

30 percent of the employees have been employed by Aldi for more than 5 years, they said.

According to publicly available company data, Aldi Magyarország Élélmiszer Bt. achieved a net sales revenue of HUF 417.1 billion in 2022 after HUF 315.2 billion in the previous year, and its profit after tax was HUF 5.97 billion, compared to HUF 8.50 billion in 2021 after.
