According to the Romanian authorities, a short circuit has occurred, but the entire power supply system must be replaced.

The Romanian railway authorities are feverishly searching for the reasons why the first brand new electric train that arrived in Romania from Alstom's factory in Poland at the beginning of last month could have malfunctioned, Krónika reports .

The vehicle was supposed to be put on a test drive in the last week of December, but it broke down in the tenth second of the test - as it turned out, due to a short circuit.

The train did not catch fire, but the entire power supply system needs to be replaced, which is why a new one has to be brought from Poland.

It is the first electric train purchased by Romania in 40 years and the first new train purchased by the country in 20 years. Romania ordered a total of 37 vehicles under a contract worth 480 million euros.
