Attal, France's first openly gay prime minister, went public with their relationship in 2018 when he first joined Macron's government.
The Minister of the Interior, Finance, Defense and Justice will remain in place , the French President said in a statement. The members of the government were agreed upon by 34-year-old Gabriel Attal, France's youngest ever prime minister, and centrist President Emmanuel Macron, the PA news agency reported.
Stéphane Séjourné, 38, has been appointed as France's foreign minister, succeeding Catherine Colonna. Séjourné is the leader of Macron's Renaissance party and the leader of the European Renewal group of liberal, pro-European MEPs in the European Parliament.
And not by the way, the new prime minister, Attal, is also his ex-partner. The two men have never publicly confirmed their breakup, but in his transparency statement, Attal stated that he is single.
Ms. Séjour's arrival means that no woman will hold a senior position in government.
