An investigation is being launched against the BYD company coming to Szeged.

The European Commission is initiating an investigation against several Chinese electric car manufacturers, including BYD, which is coming to Szeged. The Hungarian opposition can neither spit out nor swallow the Chinese giant's investment in Szeged.

The Commission rolled in

As Portfolio knows , the investigations may even lead to the imposition of customs duties. As it turned out, investigators are conducting investigations at several Chinese car manufacturers: according to the Commission

the purpose of the investigation is to find out whether Chinese companies are getting an unfair advantage through state aid.

The investigation actually began in October and is expected to last 13 months. China responded that the measure was too protectionist and created tension. Sources are conflicting about the current state of the situation, but industry stakeholders are sure to be watching closely.

BYD Co. Ltd. or BYD is a listed Chinese conglomerate manufacturing company headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. The company is the world's largest manufacturer of electric vehicles, including battery electric and hybrid cars, buses, trucks, as well as battery bicycles, forklifts, solar panels and rechargeable batteries (at the level of mobile phone batteries, electric vehicle batteries and bulk storage, etc.). Over the past decade, the share of the company's main business income from the automotive industry has consistently remained above 50%.
