The reconstruction of the former headquarters of the Red Cross Society on Dísz tér is nearing completion. As a result of the National Hauszmann Program, another urban wound is being healed in the Budavári Palace District. The external appearance of the newly reborn Red Cross headquarters will already show its original form this year. The building will serve as an office, they write Facebook page of the National Hauszmann Program.

In some parts, the facade ornaments have already become visible, and the railing elements have also been installed around the terraces. In the spring, the specialists work on the decorative elements with a special cover layer, giving the facade a uniform appearance.

The roof will also be ready soon, and the patinated zinc sheet covering will be put on the corner domes in January. It is expected that the last decorative tin elements of the building, the grotesque headdresses decorating the domes, will be put in their final place during the summer. In the interiors of the Red Cross headquarters, the stucco work of the hall of honor began, which was based on the original plans and archival photographs.

The Red Cross Society of the Countries of the Hungarian Holy Crown bought 1–2 Dísz tér in 1900. building complex, which was created based on the plans of two important architects of the time, Alajos Hauszmann and Dezső Hültl. The palace on the southeast corner of the square dates back to the II. It was an integral part of the skyline of the Castle District until the end of World War II. Despite the shelling during the war, it could have been saved, but politics decided in 1946 to demolish it completely, and then for decades a neglected lot stood in its place, on which an undemanding flea market operated.

As part of the National Hauszmann Program, the exterior features of the building being renovated will faithfully follow the original, while at the same time prioritizing modern solutions in terms of interior design and building engineering.
