In recognition of his career, in 2024 László Földes, Oboe, will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Petőfi Music Award. The ceremonial award ceremony of the Petőfi Music Award Lifetime Gala can be seen on the Danube on February 3. In the large-scale production in honor of the legendary entertainer and songwriter of the domestic music scene, several of our country's star performers take part.

The public media's large-scale gala program, which received prestigious international television recognition, is returning to the screen. This year, the awardee of the Petőfi Music Award Gala is the Kossuth award-winning blues singer, songwriter, performer, founder and frontman of the Hobo Blues Band, László Hobo Földes. For decades, the artist has been a defining figure in the Hungarian light music scene, and in his career he has made a lasting impression in various genres, including blues, rock and folk music. His literary and performing arts activities are also significant: his incomprehensibly rich oeuvre is completed by books, film and theater roles, as well as independent evenings. With his unique voice and lyrics, he is the embodiment of authentic, honest musical expression.

The figure of the musician, who won the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Petőfi Music Award, is significant not only from a musical point of view, but also from a socio-cultural point of view. In the period before the regime change, when art was under the grip of the political environment, it found refuge in the underground scene. In his texts, he often touches on the topics of society and individual freedom. With his art, personal and social messages, he left his mark on Hungarian culture forever. This year, he reached an important milestone: 40 years ago, his album Vadaszat was released, one of the most important Hungarian rock albums of all time, which he celebrates with an Arena concert on February 10. Hobo celebrates his 79th birthday shortly after his concert, on February 13.

The Petőfi Music Award - The Lifetime Gala, which was produced in 2023 by the public media itself and celebrates Adamis Anna Kossuth award-winning lyricist, was a resounding success not only in Hungary, but also internationally: last year, it won the entertainment category at the 3rd Heart of Europe International Television Festival. In 2024, Duna pays tribute to the art of Hobo László Földes with a large-scale gala show worthy of recognition, with productions supplemented with spectacular show elements, with the participation of our country's renowned star performers.
