The American embassy in Budapest supported the left-wing media with considerable sums.

Magyar Nemzet collected in a long analysis which left-wing media received money from the US embassy in Budapest. The document they refer to on the website of the Mérté Media Analysis Workshop reveals which media outlets will receive funding from the budget of the media support tender issued by the US Embassy in Budapest last fall.

The paper's article revealed that Magyar Jeti Zrt., which operates 444 and the left-wing portals Qubit, won the joint media support tender of the United States Embassy in Budapest with Mérték Médiaelamző Műhell and Ökotárs, where Péter Uj will receive more than HUF 16 million. and a company marked with the name of Gábor Kardos.

Some mediums reaped a lot

According to the Magyar Nemzet article, this proves that the left-wing media is not called the dollar media by chance, because they receive a lot of foreign money. The article also notes that the purpose of the grants is to

foreign donors get what they expect in exchange for their money, which is nothing more than serving foreign interests.

Magyar Nemzet highlighted that according to , 32 applications were received by the application deadline, but 6 unnamed applicants were excluded for formal reasons. Out of a total of 26 valid applications, 15 have now received support, for which a total of more than HUF 115 million, HUF 115,608,880 to be exact, will be allocated.

Magyar Jeti reaped a huge harvest

Based on the data available on the Internet, it turned out that Magyar Jeti was one of the biggest winners of the American money. Based on the tender decision, 444.hu will receive nearly HUF 10.25 million, while their sister newspaper, Qubit, will receive approximately HUF 6.45 million, so together with the two newspapers of Magyar Jeti Zrt., they can spend a total of HUF 16.7 million thanks to the American support.

Others also receive substantial sums: Magyar Hang paid nearly 10 million, almost 8 million

The foundation that operates Tilos Rádió will receive slightly more than HUF 10 million. Debreciner, a local portal operating in Debrecen, will receive HUF 9.99 million. Alhambra-Press Bt., the publisher of Átlátszó and Magyar Hang, also receives a very similar subsidy amount.

Liberty Press Kft., which operates the weekly newspaper Jelen, will receive 9.5 million forints, while the publisher of the local websites Borsod24 / Szol24 / Szabolcs24, the Equality of Chances and Fenntarthálysz Egyesület, will receive 9.3 million forints.

The website of Magyar Narancs is also among the lucky applicants: they will receive HUF 9.9 million.

However, Van Másik Zrt, which operates Telex.hu, also received the subsidy. According to the data, the company received a grant of HUF 7.8 million, while Klubrádió receives a grant of HUF 5.1 million from the United States Embassy in Budapest.

In addition, the environmental protection portal Greenfo received HUF 5 million in support, while Szabad Pécs received HUF 4 million. A podcast, Az élt and everything, operated by Másfél Flekk Kft., receives about HUF 3.4 million. The association that operates the Nyugat.hu portal receives HUF 4.98 million.
