Brussels uses access to EU funds to exert political pressure.
the Financial Times wrote that some Brussels politicians would use EU funds to blackmail Hungary. According to the paper, the EU will demand that the member states cancel all EU aid to Hungary if Hungary does not abandon its intention to veto the $55 billion military aid package proposed by Brussels to Kiev at the summit of the European Council on February 1.
The document prepared and leaked by the officials of the European Council also criticizes "the Hungarian Prime Minister's not constructive enough behavior", which is also the reason for the slowness of EU funding, which can easily "frighten the markets", reports the Financial Times.
In connection with this, the minister responsible for European Union affairs of our country stated that Hungary does not give in to blackmail.
"The document argues that - if no decision is made on the financing of Ukraine at the EU summit on February 1st - then the member states will publicly declare that due to the non-constructive behavior of the Hungarian Prime Minister, they cannot imagine that Hungary would ever receive the resources it is entitled to, and it is also suggested that the resources belonging to Hungary should be completely withdrawn", reminds János Bóka in his Facebook post, adding: the information confirms what the Hungarian government has been claiming for a long time: Brussels uses access to EU resources to exert political pressure.
"Hungary does not create a connection between support for Ukraine and access to EU funds, and refuses to allow others to do so," emphasized Bóka, who repeatedly stated:
Hungary has been and will continue to participate constructively in the negotiations, but does not give in to blackmail.
