As a result of the ever-growing scandal, the members of the advisory board of the President of the Republic are stepping back one by one. In addition to Levente Szörényi, the well-known media personality Gábor Gundel Takács also backed away from the President of the Republic.
Gábor Gundel Takács provided information on his social media page regarding the pardon request, which was accompanied by great interest by the Hungarian public. What he wrote, according to his request, is presented below in its entirety without editing. The original post is available by clicking here .
"To everyone!
- Principle: Everyone has a duty to serve their country. If the current President of the Republic invites you to do so, you must go.
- All members of the Republic's Presidential Advisory Board give advice for free, only with the intention of improvement and on public - i.e. specifically non-political - issues. No decisions are made.
– I myself came across K. Endre's case in the press.
- There are cases with zero tolerance, such as pedophilia.
- In my opinion, a wrong decision was made when signing the pardon application. Was a mistake.
– Accordingly, I made a proposal to Katalin Novák today.
– I think it is right that one should first share one's opinion with the person it concerns.
- I cannot identify with the Hungarian political culture, communication, cynicism, methods, emotions and lack of restraint. Not with either side. That is why I do not wish to be a member of the Advisory Board in the future, because despite my hopes, this work cannot be done without politics either.
– I cannot identify with the communication of hatred that flows from a part of the press and a part of the people, while they do not even need the germ of the intention of orientation and mutual understanding.
- No matter how much goodwill, responsibility, sense of duty, and constructive intention a person turns to his nation, political interest sooner or later muddies it, drags it down, grinds it down. Some people get it, some don't. I cannot exist in this environment.
