After the online meeting of the EU finance ministers (Ecofin), Finance Minister Mihály Varga announced that as a result of the economic protection and restart measures taken by the government, Hungary can overcome the crisis caused by the coronavirus epidemic sooner than the average of the EU member states.
The minister added: according to the latest forecast of the European Commission, our country will achieve the seventh highest growth rate in the European Union this year. In the latest economic forecast of the European Commission, an economic growth of 3.7 percent at the EU level is likely for 2021, while the Hungarian GDP expansion could be up to 4 percent this year.
