Until the election of the new president of the republic, László Kövér will replace the outgoing president of the republic.

CX of 2011 on the legal status and remuneration of the President of the Republic. The law states what happens if the head of state resigns as follows:

"The President of the Republic can resign from his mandate with a written statement addressed to the Parliament. The acceptance statement of the Parliament is required for the resignation to be valid."

The law stipulates that the mandate of the President of the Republic in such a case ceases at the earliest on the 15th day following the declaration.

According to the rules, "if the mandate of the President of the Republic is prematurely terminated for any reason,

until the new President of the Republic takes office, the powers of the President of the Republic shall be exercised by the President of the National Assembly."

So until the election of the new president of the republic, Speaker László Kövér will replace Katalin Novák.

"During the replacement of the President of the Republic, the President of the National Assembly cannot exercise his representative rights, and instead the duties of the President of the National Assembly are performed by the Vice-President appointed by the National Assembly"
