Ethnic-based politicking has its fruits: Hungarian well-heads, science cultivated in the mother tongue, the Hungarian future.

The Selye János University is a joint success of the Hungarians of the Highlands - declared János Árpád Potápi in Révkomárom in the Highlands on Wednesday, at the local Selye János University (SJE), where he delivered a welcome speech at the commemorative conference organized on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of independent Hungarian higher education in the Highlands.

János Árpád Potápi highlighted in his speech: János Selye University is not simply the pinnacle of the educational institution network in the Uplands, but at the same time it is also a bastion of the culture of the local Hungarians, which worthily preserves the traditions of the earliest and most important universities in that the theological training of the Hungarians in the Uplands is within the walls of the university. also found a home.

This sends the message that the church is always an indispensable community in the conception and understanding of the nation's future, stated János Árpád Potápi.

Quoting the words of Sándor Csoma Kőrösi, the Secretary of State for National Policy, he drew a parallel between the life path of the great Székely explorer and the establishment and development of the educational institution in Révkomárom, pointing out that both have become success stories.

He recalled: the establishment of the SJE was preceded by decades of preparation and planning, which was a hard period that required full effort and focus, but the process that had started, progressing with small steps, never stopped short of the goal.

Selye János University is the joint success of Hungarians in the highlands - emphasized János Árpád Potápi, adding: today, a little more than 20 years after the establishment of the institution, Selye János University is a "dream come true" that encourages us to dare to dream big.

He pointed out: looking at the current situation, it can be seen that ethnic-based politicking has its fruits: the Hungarian well heads, the science cultivated in the mother tongue, the Hungarian future.

"If we want the future of Hungarians in the highlands (and we do), then it is impossible for us to give up ethnic-based politicking," emphasized János Árpád Potápi.

At the commemorative conference, the State Secretary for National Policy also spoke about the fact that today in the Felvidék there is a network of institutions, from nursery school to university, that ensures a mother-tongue environment. A cooperative network has been built and is currently being built, not only in education, but also in the fields of the economy, the Highlands and other foreign businesses, as well as the media and sports, he pointed out.

He added: the fact that this network covers the whole of life (including work, livelihood, information and recreation) is an essential condition for survival.

Let our national cooperation be the plus that helps us to achieve our goals and to conquer new heights, emphasized János Árpád Potápi.

The decision to establish SJE, the first independent Hungarian higher education institution in the highlands, was adopted in 2003 by the legislature of Slovakia, which became independent in 1993. The founding ceremony of the university took place in January 2004, and education at the institution began in September of the same year. The university has a faculty of economics, teacher training and theology.
