The medical mission of Catholic Charity is holding preventive health screenings in Budapest for refugees affiliated with the Integration Center of Catholic Charity on the second anniversary of the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

This is how the Catholic aid organization expresses its solidarity with families forced to flee the war and people in need.

According to the announcement of Katolikus Karitász, on the weekend of the anniversary, the aid organization's medical mission will examine 97 pre-registered refugee children and adults at the Integration Center of Karitász. Children are provided with ophthalmological, dental and orthopedic check-ups, while adults can take part in ECG, blood sugar and blood pressure tests, gynecological cancer screening and eye examinations.

The eighty-member medical mission of the Catholic Charity consists of doctors, medics and nurses, the members of the team voluntarily, sacrificing their free time, organize free preventive screenings for people living in war-torn Ukraine and refugees in Hungary.

They noted that the work of the six-year medical mission fills a gap because, in the absence of knowledge of the healthcare system and adequate language skills, it is a challenge for refugees to receive even the most basic examination in Hungary.

The integration center of Katolikus Karitász, which has been operating since the summer of 2022, has been in contact with 3,254 families, a total of 9,842 people.
