Working for the nation always gives you concrete strength. This can also make our nation a "sustainable nation", said Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Katalin Szili on Saturday in Budapest, at the József Halzl Memorial Conference organized by the Rákóczi Association.

Katalin Szili highlighted the work of the heir and honorary president of the Rákóczi Association, who died in 2020:

"if we have to do something for the nation, there is no party policy that is more important than doing it together".

"József Halzl's example encourages all of us to do something for the nation," he said, adding: József Halzl was a man of his time, who initiated things and stood up for things with which he is a lasting example.

"He was always driven to live as a human being, to remain Hungarian, to make sacrifices for Hungarianness even in the worst times, under suffocating international conditions"

He pointed out that the former president of the association "selflessly, courageously and wisely acted for the Hungarian people, and always remained human while meeting challenges and serving his community in all circumstances."

Katalin Szili recalled that during the "ruthless political offensive" of the Rákosi era, József Halzl chose the weapon of knowledge.

"He did not accept the zeitgeist even for a moment, but he refused to hide and vegetate"

According to his words, the presidency of the Rákóczi Association "was a social and public role for him in every way". He became a leader open to compromise and capable of dialog, whose work opened a professional, new chapter in the life of the association. It was József Halzl who set the direction for the organization and involved many young people in community-building work.

Katalin Szili also spoke about how the communities built by the Rákóczi Association in the last three decades have become the "cement of the nation". This community-building work can never be finished, it can never be closed, it continues today with success both in the Carpathian Basin and in the diaspora.

Csongor Csáky, the president of the Rákóczi Association, pointed out: József Halzl's thinking was always permeated by a sense of responsibility for Hungarians abroad, during his "Hungarian rescue" work he helped thousands of families in choosing a Hungarian school, and he was already a role model in his lifetime.

"We remember a man who was an unavoidable thinker and builder of today's national politics. Whose legacy determines many activities of national politics, such as education and training subsidies"

- praised Csongor Csáky, the hereditary and honorary president of the association.

He also said that József Halzl was an evangelical man who tried to live according to the gospel,

"it wasn't by chance that people loved him".

At the event, the József Halzl award, established last year, was presented, which this time was accepted by Sándor Lezsák, the Vice-President of the Parliament.
