No one in Europe expected that there would be trenches, tank battles again and millions of people would have to leave their homes.
Since the Second World War, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict has been the most destructive conflict in Europe, with the exception of the uprising that broke out in the GDR, the 1956 revolution, the Prague Spring, and the South Slavic War, there were seventy-seven years of peace on our continent.
Russian site:
When I was in the Donbass, I felt as if I had fallen into the set of a World War movie: shot up family houses, burned out panels, "caution mines" signs in the parks. It was a surreal sight, even if it wasn't the first conflict zone I'd visited. I expected hate on both sides, but interestingly, I experienced much more pain and sadness.
This is a fratricidal war that politicians started and they must end it"
said a Russian soldier.
How could I hate Ukrainians when half my family is"
- a middle-aged lady asked back and told how worried she was about relatives living on the Ukrainian side. It is because of the continuously shot down transmission towers that there is no internet and telephone connection for days, so they cannot reach their loved ones.
If Trump becomes president again, the war will be over”
- thought a drone pilot who had already served in Syria, but according to his real profession, he is an IT teacher in a high school. His partner, who is also a literature teacher, took his annual leave as a reserve to protect his own. He is happy when prisoners of war are captured, as they will survive this hell and eventually return home to their families.
We have the same genetics, the same language, religion and culture. No one likes to shoot their brothers"
added the literature teacher. Most people blame Zelenskyi and his Western allies for creating this situation. The civil war years also took a toll on people. Since 2014, many have been subjected to continuous attacks by the Ukrainian army.
Ukrainian page:
A whole generation is taking it in Ukraine. Many hundreds of thousands of flags fly in cemeteries over the graves of the heroic dead. There are no exact numbers, they are secret, but it is assumed that 300,000 Ukrainians fell on the front. Young boys and girls who still had a whole life ahead of them, university studies, dating, starting a family. Now there is only a painful void in the hearts of families. Fathers have been at the front since the outbreak of the war and do not know if they will see their children grow up.
Millions have left the country and many will not return. According to a survey in Germany, most Ukrainian refugees do not want to return home because there is no reason to. They have lost their homes, jobs, and chattels and have no vision for the future in their country. Most of them work, their children go to school and learn the language, they feel integrated into society. The situation is similar in Hungary and Poland, the refugees have found a new peaceful and welcoming country, whether they are our Transcarpathian compatriots or Ukrainians.
And the West is pushing Ukraine in front of it to continue this proxy war against Russia. They send howitzers, tanks, ammunition and billions of dollars. So far, Kiev has received 213 billion dollars to continue the war. Brussels voted for the war budget of 50 billion euros for Ukraine for the next four years. Joe Biden is now trying to push the next $60 billion military aid package through the Senate.
Avgyijivka has fallen, the Russian army has advanced 10 kilometers around Donetsk in the last few days. Ukraine is trying to fill the ranks at the front with conscription, and the head of the Ukrainian National Security Council, Oleksiy Danyilov, asked his European allies to follow Denmark and hand over all their heavy weapons to Ukraine. Obviously, this will not happen, since the German government refused to hand over Taurus cruise missiles on Thursday. Meanwhile, 5 million people are working on munitions and weapons systems in Russian military plants.
It is incomprehensible that Brussels does not face reality and that the word PEACE has not been uttered there (with the exception of Hungarian politicians) in the last two years.
The situation is similar in Washington DC, they still hope that this conflict can be solved with weapons. However, if two years were not enough, then three will not be enough, only more death and destruction will befall the region. It would be time to include the words peace, negotiation, and ceasefire in the European rhetoric. As the government of Hungary has realistically highlighted, this war must be ended at a round table, and as quickly as possible.
