He is a lawyer to the core, a constitutional lawyer, who in the coming period can very well help guide you in the controversial issues that arise with the European Union (EU), said Tamás Fricz, at the same time pointing out that the President of the Republic's "business is not primarily with the European Commission to argue", but the aforementioned legal background can certainly help.
Tamás Fricz, research consultant of the Center for Fundamental Rights, called Tamás Sulyok, the president of the Constitutional Court, the head of state.
The political scientist said in the Tuesday morning program of the M1 channel: " in this political situation we have found ourselves in, Tamás Sulyok is a great choice".
According to him, he was elected president of the republic on Monday
Tamás Sulyok's speech in Parliament contained several very important messages.
One is that there is nothing more important than national, legal sovereignty , and in fact Hungary did not give up its sovereignty by joining the EU, but we are delegating certain rights to the union and exercising them together - said Tamás Fricz.
He pointed out that Tamás Sulyok emphasized the issue of sovereignty, and the new head of state spoke about the fact that the EU is not a state, but an alliance of nations. So it cannot be turned into a state, because the EU is based on the independent sovereignty of the member states.
According to Tamás Fricz, all of this is important because there is already information that the Brussels elite wants to take rights that, according to the Lisbon Treaty, do not belong to the union and the European Commission at all. He said that in Brussels they really want the EU to be a super-state and, according to him, they will have to face very serious efforts after the European Parliament elections.
Regarding the fact that the representatives of DK, Momentum, MSZP, Jobbik and Párbeszéd withdrew from the meeting hall during the presidential election, he spoke about:
the opposition is the so-called deconstructive opposition, which fundamentally does not accept the legal system, legal functioning, and withdraws from the functioning of the democratic system.
Tamás Fricz said: "quite simply, for incomprehensible reasons" - with the exception of the Mi Hazánk Movement - they withdrew at the very beginning of the election process for the president of the republic, that they simply deny this.
It is impossible to know why, everything was legal. The previous head of state resigned, after that they will elect a president of the republic who meets the position of president in all respects with his legal knowledge, his objectivity, and his past, and they cannot even participate in this, he added.
According to Tamás Fricz, the question arises as to what the opposition's problem is when a president comes who is not a party soldier, has never been a member of a party.
To see that Hungarian political life is divided, that the opposition is actually looking for trouble in every issue, would lead the country in the direction of disorder and chaos
said the political scientist.
