The court found György Fürst guilty in the first instance, the VI. the former socialist deputy mayor of the district, who was accused of crimes related to parking money in the capital, reports Telex .

Out of the 24 defendants in the trial, 22 other people besides him were found guilty, mainly of embezzlement or tax evasion committed as accomplices. It was also revealed that the length of the measured prison sentences ranged from a year and a half to 6.5 years, with a significant portion suspended.

The amount of the fine varied between a few hundred thousand forints and 25 million forints depending on the degree of guilt.

Two defendants were fully acquitted. Legal representatives of those found guilty are likely to appeal the verdict.

Antecedent:

The primary defendant in the trial, György Fürst, was previously the VI. was the deputy mayor of the MSZP responsible for the property management of the district, and then became the managing director and owner of Centrum Parkoló Kft. Fürst was suspected in 2010, and in 2016, a criminal trial began against him and 23 of his associates on the charge of crimes that caused a financial loss of HUF three billion. The prosecutor's office charged Fürst with two counts of embezzlement, partly as an accessory to a crime, which caused particularly large financial losses, and another 23 of his accomplices with embezzlement, embezzlement, tax evasion and other crimes.

According to the indictment, the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities I., II., VI., VII., VIII., XI. and XII. concluded a contract with Centrum Parkoló Kft. for the operation of the district's parking system. According to the agreement, the company acquired the parking meters and built the paid parking system. Local governments received about 30 percent of the annual parking revenue of several billion forints.

The Center then brought in subcontractors, and then, referring to making the operation more efficient, the subcontractors commissioned new subcontractors. According to the prosecutor's office, the outsourced activities and ordered services were economically unjustified and disadvantageous, and the defendants caused HUF three billion financial losses between 2006 and 2011.
