The flames in the Hotel Silvanus in Visegrád have been contained, and the firefighters are currently carrying out the follow-up work, said Zita Némethy, deputy spokesperson of the Pest County Disaster Management Directorate, on Saturday afternoon. The director of the hotel and Pál Győrfi also spoke on the matter.

Róbert Pintér, the director of the hotel, told MTI:

the fire was probably caused by an electrical problem, which started on the fourth floor of the hotel.

He pointed out that the guests are waiting in the nearby parking lots, where buses and warming rooms are available to them. In the following hours, all guests will get their valuables back, those who wish can go home, the hotel employees will reserve a new room for the others.

He also emphasized that:

guests and employees were safe during the fire, no injuries were reported.

Pál Győrfi, the communications manager of the National Ambulance Service, said that three rescue helicopters and several ambulances were called to the scene. With the help of disaster management, a bus was provided as a warm-up area for those leaving the building.

Attila Csámpai, the spokesperson of the Pest County Disaster Management Directorate, provided information that the entire upper floor of the Hotel Silvanus in Visegrad was on fire, about 230 guests were staying in the hotel, but everyone left the building safely. Shortly before 12 o'clock, 14 firefighting units were already working to contain the fire.

According to the announcement of the disaster management, in addition to the disaster management operations service, professional firefighters from Szentendre, Esztergom and Budapest, as well as volunteer firefighters from Szentendre, Szigetmonostori, Visegrád and Leányfalu, attended the fire. The works were also assisted by water suppliers from Budapest, Vác, Gödöllő and Budaörs.

The Pest County Police Headquarters announced on police.hu that the full width and length of the Panoráma road leading to the hotel was closed due to the fire.

This is not the first time a fire has broken out in the hotel

The news arrived on Saturday morning that the Silvanus Hotel in Visegrád caught fire, but this was not the first incident, a fire also broke out in the hotel in 2008. As part of the follow-up works, the building will be inspected and ventilated, and the exact cause of the fire will soon be investigated.
