We failed to clearly and firmly state our moral opinion, we forgot to firmly stand against the obfuscations and lies, the harmful effects of which are still with us twenty years later. Written by Katalin Kondor.
The calendar helps, it certainly helps, especially if a person is made of such iron that he considers it important to preserve and not forget the events of the past, and he also has a friend as precise as I had the late journalist colleague Imre M. Szabó, known by many. . He always repeated that "we should remember", and he did it. Not only with his work, but also with, for example, the fact that he left behind his prestigious collection, i.e. his diary, which I partially inherited, and he also had a series of articles that Let's Remember! was published under the title
There was even room for the fact that in 2004, on February 25, i.e. in these days almost exactly 20 years ago, i.e. in the second half of February, it was reported in the news that Péter Medgyessy might leave the government prematurely, and that Gyurcsány They are intended for Ferenc.
At the time, Ferenc Gyurcsány called the news a baseless speculation.
Of course, he lied quite a lot by then. (For this, you need to know that Medgyessy was the Prime Minister of our country between May 27, 2002 and September 29, 2004.) So the above news about Medgyessy's departure was so much "speculation" that seven months have passed, and Ferenc Gyurcsány must have died on September 28, 2004. , the ruling party majority of the Parliament elected him prime minister and accepted the government program. This started the country's march towards the abyss. There is no need to discuss this in detail just because there is a mass of accurate data, statements, and analytical writings available as proof of the fall of our country, pushed to the edge of the abyss, starting in 2004.
I look at M. Szabó's notes, there are such "little things" as the fact that almost at the beginning of Gyurcsány's prime ministership, precisely on November 12, 2004, another shower of public money was showered on left-wing or left-wing media and corporate groups, including Népszabadság, Népszava, the Metro newspaper , Klubrádió, Magyar ATV, etc. into its coffers, not leaving out foreign-owned newspapers either.
All this is just the tip or the bottom of the iceberg, I don't know, in any case, it is clear from the evidence already available in many places that the country, which was already pushed to the edge of the abyss, did not move away from the abyss in the following years, but got closer.
We also ran properly into the depths.
The handouts to the left-wing press court continued, and who knows who to everyone, and it even came to light that the prosecutor's office had also announced its legal position regarding the case of Prime Minister Gyurcsány's three companies. According to this, it was confirmed that in the case of Gyurcsány's phantom company, Nomentana Kft., there is a reasonable suspicion of the crime of forgery of private and public documents, but the criminality of the crime expired in December 2005.
This is how we lived during Gyurcsány's reign, but there were also many other events here.
Several restrictions and several decisions that ignored the interests of the national economy, especially with regard to privatization tenders, blew the fuse.
It is worth mentioning - especially taking into account the teachers' demonstrations of the past years - that in October 2005, according to the Democratic Trade Union of Teachers, approximately six thousand teachers lost their jobs from September. 2005 was also the year when EU Financial Commissioner Almunia sent a message to the Hungarian Prime Minister Gy. F. in the columns of the Financial Times, namely that the Hungarian government should stop its unbridled spending, because otherwise the EU's money spigots will be closed. Our Prime Minister replied: "What the hell does Europe want from us?" So far, our national debt has already increased by 1,300 billion, and it has also been revealed that the government has provided false data for three years.
Well, that's how we turned to the year, i.e. 2006, which brought unfortunate events into our lives.
Among them are ones that we could not have imagined even in our dreams after the so-called system change. While the economic situation outlined above did not justify it in the slightest, and in fact would have prohibited it under normal circumstances, the government once again distributed millions of subsidies among the companies of the left-wing moon court. More precisely, its National Institute for Adult Education. Among the winners of the tender for the promotion of adult education was the company owned by Tamás Gyárfás, which pocketed more than HUF 11 million, Klubrádió 2.8 million, Magyar ATV 20 million, and so on.
These are all facts. Quite demoralizing facts. Just as it deeply demoralized our society when its number one leader at the time - thinking himself extremely honest and exemplary - came forward by confessing as the culprit: "We obviously lied for the last one and a half to two years. It was very clear that what we were saying was not true. And in the meantime, we didn't do anything for four years. Nothing. You can't say a government measure that we can be proud of, beyond the fact that we brought governance back to the end from...
I don't need to say that Gyurcsány made this confession, and perhaps it is not even worth arguing about how much of a moral breach and indignation this heartfelt "confession" caused in decent people. Never passing away.
Because everything has a history. (I know that the consequence is unfortunately not much, but that's another topic.) This "truth-telling" was so demoralizing that it was difficult to digest. If only because it was not followed by repentance. In addition, he gave us that lesson, that perhaps hard to decipher lesson, how did we become so gullible? It would be good to decipher this.
Károly Lóránt, my good old engineer-economist friend, once told me that we can consider credulity a kind of folk disease, which unfortunately brings, brought with it, that many people have realized that many people can be led by their noses. And they leave themselves.
In English: we failed to clearly and firmly state our moral opinion, we forgot to firmly stand up against obfuscations and lies, the harmful effects of which are still with us after twenty years.
We can add that we also lost our self-esteem because of lying. After all, we didn't protest enough. Not until today. So, unfortunately, the statement of our excellent compatriot still lives: "We are a country without consequences" (political scientist and philosopher Tamás Fricz).
And we will remain so as long as we try to cover up, forget, trivialize the events around us that happened to us. So it doesn't hurt to sometimes take out the calendar and authentic newspaper articles to remember the important events that happened to us, if only to remember the actions of those who intend to ruin our lives. This is how we can help our self-esteem.
March 15 is approaching. We cannot forget that in 2006 another beautiful, uplifting historical holiday was ruined by Gyurcsány's pribék.
The fact that they were allowed to harm our nation with impunity is still demoralizing to this day. People's sense of self and self-esteem suffered serious injuries then.
This is not impossible to recover. March 15 also offers an opportunity, with a worthy and beautiful celebration.
