In addition, a huge straw bunny, a 260-centimeter giant egg, rabbits on scooters and bicycles, and an illuminated egg tunnel make the Easter holidays even more beautiful.
On March 23, Norbert Kerekes visited Kéthely, where he took beautiful photos of the center of the village dressed in Easter "clothes" and its unique decorations.
Norbert lives in Ajka, Veszprém County. He got acquainted with the world of photography in 2013, and after a few years of absence, he has been passionately visiting the Balaton region for six years now, capturing its beauty and values in beautiful photos.
My favorite is the Balaton highlands, but there are also places that I really like and to which I return year after year. Among others, Kéthely, where the waiting for the Easter holiday has a unique atmosphere and is really special, or I could mention the tulip harvest in Badacsony and Kőröshegy, but my favorite is also the lavender major in Dörgicsei
Norbert told about his favorite locations.
In two places, the center of the village was decorated for the first time in 2015. In the first year, 1,200 eggs were placed on the egg tree, which even then provided a truly special spectacle. The following year, the number of eggs reached 3,000. And the egg tree has been a prominent decoration of the center of the village ever since, which was expanded with special works in 2017.
The tree is decorated with self-painted eggs of each Somogy county municipality, which have been made unique with the typical patterns and names of the settlements. Among the more and more beautiful Easter decorations and colorfully painted eggs, a special creation stands out, a giant egg with a height of 260 centimeters.
This unusual decorative element quickly catches the eye of all visitors, as does the huge straw bunny, which rises above the carved rabbits, the small rabbits on scooters and the large rabbits riding bicycles. In recent years, the number of colorful and specially patterned eggs has increased, and 9,000 eggs adorn the Easter decoration.
In 2022, the Easter decoration at both locations was expanded with an egg tunnel, the special feature of which is that as soon as the evening comes, the eggs start to light up and their light permeates the night. This year, a basket was added to the decoration in which a red-painted egg rests. The organizers will also provide a way to transport the decorations, as they will take the beautiful and unique creations to their place in a grass-covered Trabant. According to tradition, the decoration is made 2 weeks before Easter, and it will be open to visitors for two weeks after Easter.
