Citizens are happy about the regulations affecting energy drinks.

The Young Families Club (Ficsak) expressed its satisfaction that its voice was listened to and the bill banning the sale of energy drinks to those under 18 years of age came before the legislators, said Nóra Király, head of the NGO that also fights for the health of children and young people.

For years, Ficsak has been committed to initiating legislation prohibiting the availability of energy drinks to young people.

The NGO held several forums on this issue and conducted a public opinion survey among parents, because the topic of regulating energy drinks is a socially common issue, since the harmful effects of energy drinks and their extremely high caffeine and sugar content can pose a serious threat to the younger generation.

Nóra Király recalled: politicians Lőrinc Nacsa and István Hollik submitted the bill prohibiting the sale of energy drinks to those under 18 years of age to the Parliament this week.

- This step is extremely important because, unfortunately, the consumption of energy drinks by young people in our country has now reached alarming proportions: according to a survey, 78 percent of them consume them, and every fifth child between the ages of 10 and 14 already regularly drinks this drink, which is harmful to their bodies, for breakfast, which is a significant health risk. represents a danger - the head of the organization drew attention.

In addition to the parent forums, Ficsak also prepared a parent opinion survey questionnaire about energy drinks in the name of healthy nutrition and awareness, which was filled in by almost a thousand people, and the results speak for themselves: 98.8 percent of those who completed them agreed that they should not be available to minor children commercial energy drinks.

The NGO is happy that its struggle reached its goal and that it was able to contribute with its civic work to the success of this important law amendment proposal, which states: it is forbidden to sell or serve energy drinks to persons under the age of 18.

Pursuant to the amendment, violators of the rules for the distribution of energy drinks are subject to the same sanctions as violators of the rules for the sale of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, and sexual products.

Ficsak is confident that the future generation will be able to live a healthier lifestyle as a result of this change in the law, the announcement reads.
