A church is only valuable together with the congregation, which is why church renovations are never for their own sake, it is important that the building is inhabited by the community and Jesus himself - said Béla Kató, bishop of the Transylvanian Reformed Church District, at the thanksgiving service of the completely renovated Székelyszenterzsébet Reformed Church.

"In our developing world, it can often be seen that our buildings and roads are renewed, but they are not always filled with content, as we care less and less about traditions and old values, we simply swept them away," said Béla Kató.

"Many people see the solution in bringing back everything that used to be. I think that's not what it's about. It would be naïve to think that we can bring back everything we once left behind. We simply have to be open, we have to let Jesus Christ into our lives again," he continued.

Székelyhon.ro reported that the 150-year-old church was renovated in recent years with the help of the Hungarian government and the cooperation of the locals .

Pastor Kálmán Kincses said that twenty years ago his company started the service in Székelyszenterzsébet. That year, the church tower was so damaged that it was feared it would collapse. Finally, with the help of his Bavarian friends, it was restored. In 2019, the Hungarian government provided assistance for the building's renovation works. The stone fence was rebuilt, the church was renovated, and the tower was also modernized with the support of the Hargita County Council, the portal reported. The local community also contributed to the construction, they added.

Vilmos Kolumbán, the chief clerk of the Transylvanian Reformed Church District, said that as long as there are people in the Hungarian villages, there is a Hungarian future.

As long as this Hungarian future is based on cooperation and the word of God, we can be sure that the Lord has not only protected us, but will also protect us.

he insisted.

The message of Gergely Gulyás, the minister who heads the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office, was delivered by Philip Rákay, the Most or never! was interpreted by the screenwriter of the film.

To build and preserve a temple is the mission and task, joy and opportunity of every generation if it wants to have a full life.

was said. The Hungarian government is happy to help in the renovation of churches, because it knows that it contributes to the strengthening of the Hungarian communities of believers - Rákay quoted Gulyás.

Kelemen Hunor, the president of RMDSZ, called the thanksgiving service a celebration of action, faith and community. He stated that in the past 1,100 years, Hungarian culture, Christian faith and love for traditions have been the sustaining force in the Carpathian Basin.

"If we take care of our small communities, we protect our traditions, and thus we have a basis for development, we have a strong rock on which to build," he said.
