Márta Peterdy, the reigning champion of Hungarian tennis, died at the age of one hundred and one.

The Hungarian association announced the sad news on its website on Tuesday.

The ex-player, who lived in France since 1956, became Hungarian individual champion in 1943, 1951, 1952 and 1956, and retired with a total of 23 gold medals.

In an interview last year, Márta Peterdy said that her greatest tennis experience was in Paris, France, in 1947, when she won the college world championship in women's singles, women's doubles and almost mixed doubles.
