The late artist's house has been empty for three years and is being sold for 69 million.

For nearly seventy million forints, you will be able to move into the former home of its new owner, Mari Törőcsik. For that much, you can buy the house in Velem, where the actress of the Nation, the three-time Kossuth Prize-winning actress, spent the last years of her life. I wonder why no one needs the property?

Earlier, there was an initiative to turn it into a memorial house, which such a national icon would deserve, but this also failed.

"A 1,450 square meter plot of approx. A 140-square-meter residential building tastefully converted from an old farmhouse" begins the ad, which also reveals that the house bought by the artist in 1973 and gifted to her daughter Teréz ten years ago also has a basement and a small pool in the center of Velem.

"The house has two entrances, four rooms, two bathrooms with showers, two kitchens, as well as a separate boiler house (gas central heating) and vaulted cellar. The garden is full of grass, where you can see fruit trees, a 15-square-meter log house and a small pool," lists the property's values in the ad, in which many pictures of the property offered for HUF 69 million are shared.

On these, it is heartbreaking to see Mari Törőcsik's personal belongings, the bookshelf covering the entire wall, her teapot or the photograph next to her bed: we get a glimpse of the conditions in which the actress, who rarely left her house due to her illness, lived her last years.

The Vas county home that once served as a refuge for Mari Törőcsik and her husband, director Gyula Maár, who died 11 years ago, has been empty since the death of the legendary actress three years ago, and has become a ghost house on the main street of the town of barely four hundred enthusiasts. After the death of the actress, the head of the settlement was confident that he could turn the building into a memorial house, but without external help, Velem's budget cannot support such an investment.

So far, one of the large-scale plans has been implemented: a street was recently named after Mari Törőcsik.

The actress even has a family member living in Velem, as her adopted son, Son, of Vietnamese origin, settled there with his family. However, according to the villagers, he didn't set foot in the house either, because Teréz, who became its owner ten years ago, wouldn't let him in. Rather, he asked the woman next door, one of Mari Törőcsik's best friends, to come over sometimes and air the house. We know that he first tried to sell it to friends, his mother offered the property to several artist friends for purchase in recent years.

- Teréz hasn't come here for years, I heard she lives abroad, she doesn't even want to move back home, no way here - revealed one of the neighbors, adding: Mari Törőcsik would be happy if her beloved home was filled with life again.

Earlier, Máté Járai, who became the adopted grandson of Mari Törőcsik through Gyula Maár, thought about possibly buying the house, but as he told Best, he recently realized that no matter how many fond memories he has there, he cannot buy it.

"I will never forget the summers I spent there as a child. My wedding was also in Velem, which was arranged by Mama Mari. I won't deny it, I used to regularly dream about what it would be like to buy it and then move there. But I've given up on that for now. On the one hand, because we recently bought a similar property in Horány, and on the other hand, Velem is terribly far from Budapest, and my work currently ties me here, so it would not have been realistically feasible," the actor told the magazine.
